Here’s Why I Started Pampered Post

When you think about the best thing to happen to you, what’s the first thing to come to mind? Perhaps it was a major achievement, getting great news or making a decision that changed things for the better. I can relate to all of these things but when I think about one of the best things to happen to me, it has to be getting laid off after almost 10 years at a company.

Yes I know it sounds crazy but hear me out. Don’t get me wrong, it was devastating when it happened two years ago but what I didn’t know then was that that experience would lead me on a path that would allow me to pursue my real passion and purpose. I recently came across an Oscar Wilde quote that’s so fitting for that time in my life, “what seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise.” This is so true but I was only able to appreciate this fact after the dust settled.

Embracing my blessings

I’ve always loved to research and discover new facts. Whether it’s learning something fun like getting lost in random Fandom wiki loops or something more meaty like learning the latest about blockchain technology, I’m constantly learning something new. It’s this drive to learn more that enabled me to think about what my passions were. I was given a blank slate and the opportunity to choose what to do with it.

I could have stuck with the status quo and gotten back into the same career or I could choose to dive deeper into one of my many interests and see where it took me. I chose the later and haven’t looked back. My passions lie in helping women become more intentional about their personal development and self-care routines.

I first explored personal development and self-care as a blogger, then again in my new career as a content marketer and more recently as a subscription box owner. As a blogger and writer, I’ve been able to reach a large audience and share the benefits of personal development and self-care from different perspectives.

It was this experience and interaction that acted as the launchpad for Pampered Post.

The vision

About a year ago I entered the world of subscription boxes. Not as an owner but as a customer. Meal kit delivery services are all the rage so last year I decided to take the plunge to see what all the fuss was about. I love the idea of not having to meal plan every week, grocery shop and then spend tons of time in the kitchen cooking meals my 4-year old may or may not eat (who can relate to that??). Instead, I log onto a website, browse a menu with my daughter and pick meals that we’ll both enjoy.

It’s this need for convenience that eventually gave way to the idea of starting my own subscription box. Entrepreneurship is in my DNA (I’ve lost count of how many family members own their own businesses) so after I stopped listing all the things that freaked me out about the idea, I pulled up my big girl pants and jumped in.

As a mom on the move, it made sense to find a way to help other mothers (what mother isn’t juggling at least three things at once, right?) buried deep in responsibilities find a way to make time for themselves. And what better way to reach the masses than with a subscription box?

Pampered Post comes to life

Each curated box is full of products that take the guesswork out of self-care. It’s my hope that Pampered Post will help moms find the time they need to put themselves first. Just place an order and every three months a box full of unique products arrives for moms to indulge in.

And Pampered Post is more than just a box full of self-care goodies. The market is already flooded with a ton of these types of boxes. What makes Pampered Post different is the fact that it’s designed for moms and also includes an emphasis on personal development.

As I continue to learn more about personal development, my goal is to share that with other moms to help them find the time to discover and experience their own blessings. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind that we end up feeling too tired to do anything more than just veg when there are a few minutes to spare. Pampered Post gives moms the help they need to carve out time for themselves.

It’s going to be a great ride

I’m really excited to bring this subscription box to Canadian moms. Much of what goes into the boxes are from local vendors because it’s important to me to support local companies. Pampered Post is new but I’ve already partnered with some great vendors and look forward to sharing their amazing products with my fellow moms.

Be sure to follow Pampered Post on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. There are LOTS of updates and exciting news to come!
